After an ICE agent murdered 37-year-old mother of three Renee Good in cold blood, furious Democrats called for decisive action to rein in Donald Trump’s personal paramilitary militia of lawless, sadistic thugs. 

Congress is currently working on passing this year’s appropriations bills, which gives Democrats a major opportunity to throw a wrench into the grindstone of ICE’s brutality. “It’s hard to imagine how Democrats are going to vote for a DHS bill that funds this level of illegality and violence without constraints,” said Sen. Chris Murphy to Axios last week. “There’s got to be some reasonable constraints.”

Some of the ideas proposed include banning ICE from wearing masks, new rules mandating actual warrants, making it easier to prosecute ICE agents for their many, many wrongdoings, and an immediate withdrawal of ICE from Minnesota. 

“They’ve gone rogue under Donald Trump; they should be disbanded,” said Rep. Joaquin Castro. “You’re still going to have immigration enforcement, but ICE shouldn’t have any part of it. It’s got to be a new iteration of immigration enforcement.”

Ideally, ICE should never see another cent in federal funding and everyone working for it should be investigated and charged with domestic terrorism — but given that isn’t an option at the moment, we must use what little leverage we have to rein in these psychotic goons.
