Expel Sen. Mike Lee for mocking the Democratic legislators shot by a MAGA terrorist!

Most of the nation was shocked, horrified, and grieving after two Minnesota Democrats and their spouses were shot in their homes by a deranged MAGA terrorist. State Representative Melissa Hortman, her husband, and their dog succumbed to their gunshot wounds. 

Beyond the personal tragedy of these wonderful lives ended so cruelly, their shootings represent a dangerous escalation of violence against our elected representatives for their political beliefs.

But somehow Sen. Mike Lee of Utah found it appropriate to go on his personal social media account to start mocking the victims and pushing dangerous conspiracy theories, calling the shooter on Marxist and quipping “Nightmare on Waltz Street,” a reference to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and an implicit blaming of him for the attack. 

This sends a message to the nation that this kind of abhorrent political violence is not only acceptable, it telegraphs that the right-wing will work to shield the perpetrators from their actions and muddy the waters around their heinous motivations. Mike Lee needs to be expelled from the Senate ASAP.
