A terrifying new report from Rolling Stone shows that there are SEVENTY pro-Trump conspiracists are election officials in key battleground counties — and they are in prime position to try to abuse their power and tilt the election in favor of Donald Trump.
Rolling Stone’s Peter Wade discovered that “officials who had promoted election conspiracy theories were identified in at least 16 counties in six swing states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. These individuals were identified through scouring coverage of refusals to certify 2020 election results and other denialist behavior, as well as sifting through the social media profiles of election officials in these states.”
Remove the pro-Trump election officials ASAP!
At least 22 of these officials have already refused to certify election results and have even started filing lawsuits in order to secure themselves the right to deny certifying election results for Vice-President Harris. The situation is the most dire in the key swing state of Georgia, where two election-denying conspiracy theorists sit on the state election board. They’ve been accused of serious ethics violations and have been trying to write new rules allowing election officials to refuse to certify results if a “reasonable inquiry” can be made into claims of election fraud — which translates to “because I said so.”
Our democracy hinges on our free and fair elections, and we cannot count on that if our election apparatus is staffed with saboteurs and far-right conspiracists who will do whatever they can to overturn the will of the people and put Donald Trump back in the White House just like they tried to do in 2020.
Remove the 70 pro-Trump election denialists working as election officials!
