In a stunning blow, a three-judge panel in Texas has rejected Donald Trump’s explicitly racist gerrymandered maps, throwing a wrench into his plan to artificially inflate the GOP’s House majority.
The case will likely now head to the Supreme Court, where the conservative majority will get the chance to decide whether or not Trump and his goons should be able to completely redraw state maps on a whim.
Demand the Supreme Court reject Trump’s gerrymanders!
Judge Jeffrey Brown, a Trump appointee, wrote that the Republican attempt to redistrict was not just about politics. Rather, “[s]ubstantial evidence shows that Texas racially gerrymandered the 2025 Map.” Brown opened his opinion with a quote from Chief Justice John Roberts: “The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.”
It’s a simple decision with an obvious answer that has already been upheld by conservative judges on a lower court. But Trump and his billionaire cronies will certainly be putting great pressure on the Supreme Court to allow their gerrymanders to take hold.
Let’s take a stand for our democracy and make your voice heard.
