House Republicans just passed a draconian set of voter restrictions that spells disaster for the future of our democracy and the ability of the people to express their political will.

Republicans call it the SAVE Act because it’s their last-ditch effort to save Trump from the wrath of a furious American public by rigging our elections for Republicans. 

The SAVE bill would force all states to hand over their voter rolls to Kristi Noem’s ICE goons and pass harsh restrictions on voter ID, requiring millions of voters to produce documents they don’t have.

It is a full-throated assault on our democracy, and shady Republicans are trying to dodge the filibuster and sneak it through the Senate. 

Coming on the heels of Trump’s threats to “nationalize” our elections and take them out of the hands of the states and Steve Bannon’s declarations that ICE will be used to police the polls, it’s obvious that this is just the first step on the way to unraveling our democracy for good and enshrining Donald Trump as a permanent president.
